Jim is a Registered Architect in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, NCARB certified for license reciprocity in all 50 states. He received his Master’s Degree in Architecture from Yale University in 1998, receiving the AIA Henry Adams Medal upon graduating, and the James Gamble Rogers Fellowship in 1997. He has worked for Koetter, Kim and Associates in Boston, and glaserworks and Michael Schuster Associates in Cincinnati, and was an Associate with ColePrévost Incorporated in Washington DC before starting Grupo7 in November 2002.
Born in Santiago, Chile, José Tohá spent much of his childhood in Mexico City. Upon graduation from high school in Santiago, he moved to the United States to pursue his Architecture studies in Florida and then Washington, DC. He received his Master’s Degree in architecture from The Catholic University of America in 2001 and has worked for Roger Fry Architect in Miami, and ColePrévost Incorporated in Washington, DC. In 2002, he founded Grupo7. His work has been published in several publications in the US and Chile and he has been the recipient of national and regional awards through his work at ColePrévost. He has also worked as a professional photographer in Miami Beach and Washington, DC.
